Genetics results in early!

I won’t bury the headline. My genetics results were clear! No known genetic predisposition for cancer. This is great news for me, and my kids. Plus a relief to other family members. 🙂

I actually got this news at the office on Monday, standing awkwardly in a conference room I hadn’t reserved, with people waiting for it. I wasn’t expecting them so early (huge luck went into that), so was caught off guard. The people waiting for their room were super gracious.

But it’s great news! I would have posted sooner, but this week was PI planning week for my team at work, and I’m an RTE. For those of you who can decode that, you know that this makes for a very crazy busy week. For those who read that as gibberish, it just means I had to work long days and my attention was fully engaged with work.

I am writing this from my car, in the parking lot of the oncologist, having arrived early for an appointment. (Excuse any typos, on my phone.) I believe that today I need to make some decisions about actual treatment plans and any further testing I want to do before scheduling surgery. I’m sitting firmly on a fencepost just now, with no clear gut feeling about how I’d like to proceed. Hopefully the oncologist has a fact at her disposal that tips the balance. I’m not typically indecisive, so I’m trusting that my decision will make itself known when required…

I’m heading in.
