My Surgery Date

I finally have my surgery scheduled!

It’s October 19th. And yes, I know that it’s a long way away. My tumor is big, but slow-growing – it doesn’t need to be treated as an emergency situation. So this is when all the doctors and an operating room are all available for a long block of time, and this is my surgery date.

And yes, I am disappointed because I’d like to get this chapter of my life closed.

But, in the good news category:
* It’s a Friday, which puts my hospital stay on the weekend – that makes things easier for the kids.
* It gives me lots of time to get the house ready, and figure out meal train.
* I’ll still be able to participate in PurpleStride on 9/29! Come out and join me!

  1. Sorry to hear the date is so far out. How long will you be in hospital? only 2 -3 days? How are the kids doing?

My thoughts are with you everyday.

    1. I hope to be out of the hospital after one night (because, ew, hospital) but an afternoon surgery means I may be there two nights. Luckily surgery is on a Friday, so the kids can spend the weekend with their dad and won’t be directly impacted. The kids are doing OK, it still feels like a million years away to them, as they navigate their own changes from a new school year. 🙂

  2. I am so glad they set a date!! I know it has to be a relief for you!
By the way, for the food train – are you going to have a point of contact so we, the populous, can reach out to them for scheduling.? That way, we aren’t overlapping! Just a thought! 🙂

    Let us know!

    1. Hi!
Yes, for the food train I’ll be using a website to let people pick which day they might be able to help, so we don’t get overlap. 🙂 I’ll also make sure I put info on there about food preferences, since a few people have asked me about the kids pickiness levels. Honestly, since I’m the only vegetarian, I’m probably the hardest person for some people to cook for!

  3. Yay, for finally getting a surgery date! Your ability to maintain a sense of humor and always see the glass half full is an inspiration!

  4. Hey Kate,

Just want you to know that I’m thinking about you and praying for you and your family. When I came to PI Planning you were the first person to reach out to us and make us feel apart of the team and I will be forever grateful to you for that! You are a sweetheart and you will win this battle….I’m claiming it now!! I wish I was there on the 29th as I would walk with you!! Take care sweet lady!! Lisa
